Vacation.

Who knew vacation was such a great time for watching so much TV that I feel my brain coming out of my ears? Literally, that is all I have been doing. I went to the library to get a bunch of books, but all  I have done is watch a bunch of Christmas movies and half a season of Gossip Girl. I don't even like that show. It is just so addicting.

Anywhooo besides my TV watching habits, my family has a New Year's Eve party every year. This year, it's going to be a little bit bigger because my sister Tanvi just graduated from University of Maryland (Wooo!!) (and she already got a job!), and so she decided to make the party into somewhat of a graduation party as well.

[Ok, before I continue, I have to sidetrack. My sister had the most AMAZING week last week. It was her birthday, she graduated, and got a job. I hope I at some point have a week as great as that!]

Anyways, let me continue. So I do have a lot to do so that I can help my mom with prepping for the party. I am meant to make an eggplant dish. I am not sure what I am going to do. I guess I'll just make it up as I go along. Don't tell my mom though haha (she thinks I know exactly what I am doing). I think I started talking about the New Year's Eve party because I had a funny story....but this is not funny. Sorry.

So I have been looking at eggplant dishes, and I found a few that look good. I think I am going to combine a few recipes. I am pretty sure there are some procedures to cooking eggplant so that it is not bitter that I don't know.....

For my cool thing, I will share a recipe (of eggplant) that I thought sounded delicious from the foodnetwork website:

It's called Eggplant Rollatini.

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/eggplant-rollatini-recipe2/index.html

I usually am not a huge fan of Giada (She over pronounces EVERYTHING. We get it. You're Italian. Goodness Gracious), but this looks reallllyyy good.

I would have to make some modifications thought since I am making it for a party. I am probably going to skip the cheese mixture, cut up to eggplant into little pieces and roast them and then put the tomato sauce and reduce it a bit and then melt some cheese on top. Ok. That is a completely different recipe. haha oh well. Good starting point. But I think I will make this at some point.

Winter.

Helllooo Everyone!

I hope everyone is doing well!!

So, FYI, I think I have a problem. I was soooo stressed out during finals week because I had so much to do, yet now, I am BORED. It has only been a day and a half where I have had nothing to do and I am bored out of my mind. I don't want to sleep anymore, I don't want to watch T.V. anymore, I don't want to be in my pajamas anymore. Thank goodness I start work tomorrow.

Alright, you can add one more person to list of people who hate on all the people who are deliriously happy during the holiday season. Okay, let me just lay it out. I get it. Being happy is fun. I love being happy. But why do all these people feel the need to be that happy for 2 weeks out of the year and then be grumps the rest of the year. And really, does being that "nice" make up for everything that goes down at the stores?? I have seen those people. They are MEAN. They are CRAZY. So many lines, people butting in lines, FOR WHAT?! Really, this is the ONLY time you can get a present for the people you love? Plus, have you ever heard of online shopping?? Personally, I prefer to get gifts for my friends and family when I see something in the stores that makes me think of them. Isn't that much more meaningful than trying to find a gift for a specific reason? But, I guess the sentiment of gift giving does stem from something nice, so I guess I can't hate everyone completely. Plus, who doesn't love holiday cartoons? I love Jack Frost the most!

Ok, my cool thing for today: Peppermint Bark!

So, I haven't actually tried this stuff, by my best friend Azzah has been really wanting some, and we went on MULTIPLE (unsuccessful) "missions" to find some. We tried, Giant and Whole Foods. Harris Teeter is next on the list. It seems sort of like a peanut brittle, but with peppermint instead? Regardless, it seems very festive haha

Let me know if you have had some! And what you thought :)

Facebook.

So. Facebook groups are my new favorite thing. Actually. I spent the greater part of my day today on Facebook because I had the best idea to create a group for my extended family (i.e. cousins). We spent the whole day Facebook chatting, posting videos and pictures, and writing random stuff. It was so fun!

I think all of you should go and make a Facebook group for you and the people you are close with. Think of it as you are all meeting up and talking to each other, but not at the same time, and in secret. You can tell everyone what you are thinking of, and you can easily alert everyone in the group of something at one time. You can share pictures with only each other and post videos to only each other. IT'S AWESOME.

Just be wary, you may be spending more time on Facebook than you already do. It was kind of a hazard for me haha

So I guess my whole post was my cool thing for today haha

Finals.

Finals week is the same every semester. Studying until you seriously consider weighing yourself to see if your head has gained any weight from all of the knowledge your brain has taken in. Night and day blending into one. Drinking coffee in hopes that it will increase your productivity. Feeling mocked by your own bed because you know you can sleep in it a mere week from now. The multitude Facebook and Twitter statuses telling us that there has been at least one person that has DEFINITELY been in the library much longer than you among the status updates of procrastination and funny comics (which are a great distraction, by the way). Worst of all, (for me at least) having a messy room because you can't deal with cleaning up when you finally get back from the library. All of this is happening when all you want to do is curl up under the covers with a cupppa tea, some chocolate, and Christmas cartoons.

Here is to finals week! Let the fun commence. (for me it will be precisely at 2:00pm tomorrow afternoon) #killmenowstatistcs (that was my somewhat poor, yet probably accurate example of the Twitter updates I alluded to before haha)

To all of those that have finals looming in the near future: good luck to you. And to those that are already done (is there anyone?): I don't give you permission to gloat.

Before you leave, as I was thinking about what I should put up as my "cool thing" today, and I thought of talking about myself (because I am the coolest thing ever) ha. I was trying to make a joke. It didn't work. Story of my life. Oh well. Cool thing:

So this is a song that has gone VIRAL in India (and here in the states). This is not the original, but this little kid (child of a famous Indian singer) is soooooo cute. YOU.ARE.WELCOME.

With this, I bid thee farewell :)
