Insomnia.

Note: Sleepytime tea does not work.

Tomorrow I have a big exam. I studied for it all day today, and I was very exhausted. So at 9pm, I decided to take a shower and get to bed. I was in bed at 10:30. I still have not fallen asleep. :(

So, I got up, ate a snack, watched an episode of Melissa & Joey, and here I am. Hopefully I will be focused enough tomorrow now that my sleep time has become much less. Good thing I don't have to wake up early tomorrow.

My interesting thing:

Melissa and Joey is the BEST show. I have recently become obsessed with it. Melissa Joan Hart. Joey Lawrence (who still is SO good looking) acting as a nanny. Absolute hilarity. Please watch it.

Just a clip for your pleasure: http://www.hulu.com/watch/171016/melissa-and-joey-im-making-waffles

You can thank me once you have watched all the episodes on Hulu in one sitting.

The look of being brain-dead after a day of statistics.

Hellooooo Everyone!

Firstly, I would like to say that I am super excited at the traffic this blog is getting. I have 36 views! (Hey you gotta start somewhere :P )

I am so very happy to be posting again. I wanted to post EVERY single day this week, but alas, my schoolwork took precedence :(

On the same note, as I am sure you would all like to know, the month of October is going to be slightly hellish for me in terms of school-work, and this is a wonderful escape (where I feel like I am still doing something productive). So, THANK YOU! By the way, Statistics is a lot of work.

Okay, I have a funny story to tell you!! So I am taking this class called Information Systems (which is unfortunately required....though they did reduce it to only half a semester). Anyways, it is the most boring of boring classes. Literally, everyone DREADS going to that class. The professor hands out candy at the beginning of class (secretly, I think it's so that people actually come). But the class actually drips with stupidness. During the first exam, I actually laughed a couple of times at the grammatical incorrectness of some of the questions. I. Kid. You. Not. Anyways, so we have to post an article on the class discussion board for the class. So I (2 weeks before the deadline!) found an interesting, relevant article, summarized it, and asked a question as requested by the teacher. So of course I was a little upset when I found out that I received a 70% on the assignment (which was quite an easy one). So I make an appointment with the teacher....which he missed. During the second appointment, I asked him why I received the grade that I did. And he basically said a bunch of nonsense that was not in the instructions, and so I used logic and told him that what he is saying doesn't make sense. To make a long story short, he increased my grade because he could not back up what he was saying. And so that I would stop making him realize it. HA.

Sooooo, my cool thing for today is the fact that it is the END of September, I am in western New York, AND it was sunny and 80 degrees today :) I hope everyone spent LOADS of time outside!

Why I am here.

The time has come for me to write to you all again.  I’m not going to lie, I was eagerly awaiting today so that I could finally post again (because apparently it’s good to keep a schedule when posting **I hope you can see me rolling my eyes here**).

So today, I am going to (try to) answer the question, “What am I doing here?” I am going to talk about my purpose for this blog and what you might be expecting every week.

When I was thinking for a topic for my blog, I started brainstorming, and I came up with some, what I think, are really cool ideas, and so I discussed them with my friends (Sonya and Azzah, if you recall from before). I thought of, for example, a blog called “Somebody Has to Say It” where I would talk about silly things I have seen people do or wear, but I decided that would potentially be really mean (although Sonya thought it would be hilarious). I thought of blogging about my dream house since I am always looking at pictures and thinking of ideas for a dream house (it’s my nerdy hobby). In fact, it is so much so my nerdy hobby that you will probably see some things about my dream house now and again anyways. I also thought about a blog called “Stuff my Mother Says” because let’s face it, she says a lot.

Anyways, in the end, I decided to just have a blog about nothing in particular. Sonya and I decided that it may be more prudent to see if it takes its own direction. So I am going to write about my life (because you are all so interested in it, I know), anything that takes my interest/fancy, and whatever I feel like. BUT one thing I did decide (about 3 seconds ago) is that I will post one interesting/funny/silly thing that caught my attention that day. Whether it be a picture, something someone said, an article online, or just a thought that I have.

SO **Drumroll Please** My interesting thing for today:

I am going to share with you all an article that my friend wrote, which I think is quite hilarious. Just for some background information, Cornell was named, by some magazine, the douchiest school in America. Now personally, I think this is hilarious. Please read the article and laugh at the hotelies (which I am one of).

http://cornellsun.com/section/opinion/content/2011/09/16/real-douchiest-college-america (Please read the article before my anecdote below.)

I am just going to add a note about our culinary course. During the first few months of college last year, I was in the computer lab quietly doing my business computing homework (which by the way is actually a difficult course), and these two girls rushed into the lab, calling a LOT of attention to themselves. They were in a HUGE frenzy: one of them was saying “this says that you have to whip until there are soft white peaks. WHAT ARE SOFT WHITE PEAKS??!?!”. Apparently they had a test that day. I remember thinking first “duh. Soft white peaks are what form when you whip egg whites” and second “only in the hotel school would student be freaking about something as silly as that”.  But, I do have to say, some of my friends are taking culinary now, and apparently it is indeed difficult….. Needless to say, I unfortunately agree with my friend: hotelies are the douchiest in the university.

***On a side note, if it was not obvious, not all hotelies are douchy, just some of them (namely not me haha).

Blog Post Number 1.

Hello Everyone.

It took me a lot of drafts before I posted this blog post: I pressed the backspace button on my keyboard more times than I would like to admit (though it is funny that I am admitting it…). To be honest, I have not done much writing outside of English class, so this is very new to me, but I hope you enjoy!

I am going to use this first blog post to introduce myself. To start off, my name is Tejal. It is pronounced Tay (like TAble) Jal (the –al pronounced the same way as conviviAL). I promise it is not as hard as it looks! Plus, I will not hate you if you can’t say it correctly. I actually have a funny story about a teacher trying to say my name. In 7th grade World History, Ms. McKinney exclaimed that Tejal is like Table after I told her how to pronounce it. Confused by her odd connection, I just nodded my head. A few minutes later, she called on me to answer a question; she said “Yes, Table, go ahead”. Needless to say, I never lived it down: to this day the people in that class still call me Table. This, however, does not give you permission to address me this way.

I am from outside D.C. I have two sisters. The older one’s name is Tanvi, and the younger one’s name is Meghna, and Contrary to popular belief, we do like each other. Sometimes. I am a sophomore at Cornell University, yet I hate the cold (lord help me!) I have the two best friends in the world: their names are Sonya and Azzah (it would behoove you to learn their names-I talk about them a lot). In addition to both my sisters, I live with my parents and my Grandma. My mom, you will learn, is hilarious, and my dad is just like most dads. We are a slightly dysfunctional family, but I would be worried if we were not.

Now that I have gotten through the necessary, slightly superficial, introductions, I feel like I should tell you some things that may actually be of importance to this blog. I am not particularly funny or witty: I have a feeling when people laugh, they are laughing AT me, not WITH me (haha), so I apologize in advance. I am EXTREMELY klutzy, so you may be hearing a lot of stories of me falling. On a side note, I am oddly proud of all my scars (much like a 9 year old boy showing off his scabs). I have the attention span of a goldfish, so you may see a lot of spaciness, though thankfully I can edit these blog posts before I post them (now if only I could learn to edit what I say before I open my mouth…). I am a very excited person, so I am going to try to tone down all the capitalization and exclamation points. I say “I have a funny story” a lot. Finally, I talk a lot about the people in my life: soon you will hopefully know all my friends and family as if they were your own.

THANKS to everyone who just read this, I am flattered that you took the time to read my rambling. Hopefully I will hear from you soon!
